Ideas For How You Can Pray For The Unreached

For peoples living in darkness (without a gospel witness), who have no knowledge of God and His true nature…

Pray that the Lord would send forth labourers (Luke 10:2) to declare God’s true nature and character as revealed in the Scriptures. Pray that they would have open hearts to receive the message of the gospel when they hear it. Pray that they would experience the rescue from the kingdom of darkness and transfer to the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Colossians 1:13)

 

For those who believe in many gods and are steeped in idolatry…

Pray that they will know that the Most High does not live in temples made by human hands (Act 7:48). Pray that they would come to know that the Lord – He alone – is God (Ps 18:31).

 

For peoples who are discriminated against (outcasts, untouchables, etc) by their own religion and have no hope…

Pray that they would know that the Lord Jesus himself was “rejected by people but chosen and honoured by God” (1 Peter 2:4). Pray that they would know the offer to be adopted as sons and heirs is possible only through Christ (Gal 4:7).

 

For those living in fear of evil spirits…

Pray that they would know that the Lord Jesus is sovereign over all creation and that He alone is able to provide confident assurance of true peace with God and protection from the evil one.

 

For peoples who reject a Christian witness in their midst…

Pray that the Lord would grant His people creativity and wisdom to enter these populations with the truth and hope of the gospel.

 

For peoples whose understanding of Jesus is based on lies and false traditions…

Pray that they would come to know the truth of Jesus as revealed in the Scriptures.

 

For those depending on their own ritual and sacrifice for forgiveness…

Pray that the recognize that no work of their own is satisfactory to atone for sin. Pray that their hearts would be made hungry to learn the truth and hope of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

 

For peoples who have no Christian presence where they live…

Pray for churches faithful to the gospel be planted in spiritual deserts.

 

For people who know they need atonement for their guilt and sin (but do not know the true gospel)…

Pray that they would come to know that Jesus is God’s eternal Son who came in the flesh to suffer, die, be buried, and rise from the dead to provide perfect atonement for sin and everlasting life.

 

For peoples who do not have the Scripture in their own language…

Pray that the Scriptures might translated and widely distributed.

 

For those who are sharing the gospel with unreached peoples…

Pray for boldness and joy for believers who are declaring the hope, light, and beauty of the gospel.

 

For the small number of believers among the unreached people groups…

Pray for strength and perseverance for believers and that they would be passionate about the gospel of Christ and seek to share it with their own people.
